The Launcher is a software application that lets you use the SMP or SCT to access the Metasys system, server or network engine on the building network, regardless of its software version. Key features of the Launcher include the following:
- Installation of a separate folder to store the Metasys release software on your hard disk. This practice provides for an isolated, private version of the Java® Runtime Engine (also referred to as Java Runtime Environment [JRE] ) required to run Metasys software. If you have installed multiple releases of Metasys software, a separate folder is created for each. The JRE folder separation strategy allows for independence from the public Java Runtime Engine.
- Support for launching any version of
the SMP user interface or SCT. All Metasys server types and network engine types
are supported.Note: For Release 5.2 or earlier, the specific Java Runtime Environment particular to the SMP or SCT software release is still required on the client computer.
- Support for launching any website, including Metasys software products, such as Metasys UI, JCT, SCT Pro, and the Metasys Advanced Reporting System, as well as popular websites such as the Google® website.
- Option for restricting communication with only secure Metasys servers and network engines.
