You can use the data share feature to share the value of a point from the list of shareable points from one device to other devices. The data selection defines what object or parameter is available for sharing to controllers with similar objects. The source selection sets which controller is the source. The destination selection sets the controller that receives the data.
One example of data share is the zone occupancy schedule. Instead of supplying zone occupancy on all terminal unit equipment, you can connect it to a single thermostat and share it to all the other thermostats.
Another example is synchronizing all of the HVAC modes of the terminal units to water system central plant mode. When you change the water system plant mode device, the terminal units of the entire building change. All devices must be online to use this feature.
To configure data share, complete the following steps:
- Click the Data Share tab.
- Click the Add Data Share button.
- In the Data drop-down list, select an object or parameter.
- In the Source drop-down list, select the controller that you want to define as the source.
- In the Destination drop-down list, select the controllers that you want to share the data with.
For example, if the occupied heating setpoint from the rooftop unit synchronizes with a fan unit controller, the rooftop unit becomes the master controller for the space. This occurs when you share the occupied cooling setpoint and unoccupied heating and cooling setpoints. The fan coil unit setpoints match the master rooftop unit. The source data values are sent to the destination controllers when the value of the data changes. If a destination controller goes offline and then comes back online, the data share function sends the latest value to that controller.
