FX Supervisory Controllers and FX Server are all built upon a software framework called Niagara 4. Niagara is a software framework that integrates diverse systems and devices (regardless of manufacturer or communication protocol) into a unified platform that you can manage in real time using a standard Web browser.

Before you use devices, such as chillers, Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes, or temperature sensors, you must import information from those devices into the Niagara software. Niagara then models those devices and their data types in software through the Niagara common object model. You can simplify the device’s data types to make them easier to manipulate and control through the software. You can then use the Niagara common object model to build applications to program the system easily without developing raw code.
