About this task

The SBH automatically discovers BACnet MS/TP devices.

Note: Before you connect the controller to the system bus:
  • Apply power to the field controller and configure a unique MS/TP device address to be unique on the trunk before you connect it to the SBH.
  • Set the baud rate to 38400 and the ADPU to acceptable values. See Performance considerations.

To connect and integrate BACnet devices into the Verasys system, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Connect the BACnet devices to the same MS/TP network of the SBH through the System Bus port of the SBH.
  2. Ensure to wire devices in a daisy-chain from one to the next.
Note: Home run wiring does not work.
  3. Ensure sequential MS/TP MAC address of the devices as they move along the wire. Start with address 4 as the device closest to the SBH.
    Note: 0-3 are reserved.
  4. Ensure devices on the two ends of the network have the EoL switch set to improve network performance.
  5. Use 22-3 AWG wire to connect +,-, and COM from controller to controller. Leave the SHD terminal empty. Tie shield cabling together external to the controller.
