BACnet routing is a technique where data on one network data segment passes to and from another network data segment. In the case of the SBH, this BACnet routing occurs when data passes between the IP and MS/TP segments.

The SBH acts like a router because it routes messages from the IP network to devices on the MS/TP network.

Important: When you enable routing on the network engine, all device identifiers in each device must be unique across all routed networks, and all network address numbers must be unique across all routed networks.

For information on how to configure the BACnet router feature, see Enabling routing mode.
