The Main Setup menu features four options to configure the settings specific to the unit as a fume hood controller. You can configure the settings associated with the additional hardware resources. Additionally, you can use the Main Setup menu to manage the system security passwords, configure the display specific settings, and use the diagnostics and troubleshooting resources.
- Setting the primary display mode
- Individual display options selection
- Analog input name definition
- Setting the system time and date
- User interface language selection
- Touchscreen display brightness adjustment
The Diagnostics options provide information specific to this particular HMS1655 unit, assistance with the troubleshooting of the unit, and real-time confirmation of the signals connected to the backplane. You can manually override the analog outputs and relay outputs with the Overrides option on the Diagnostics menus to assist with verification of the correct controller resources operation or allocation.. You can use the Real-Time View option on the Diagnostics menus to view the real-time conditions of each of the resources attached to the HMS1655 controller. This can help with troubleshooting.
If this HMS1655 operates primarily as a fume hood controller, then the majority of the configuration settings are available through the Unit Setup option on the Main Setup menu. You can access the options for additional hardware resource configuration on the HMS1655 from the System Setup options.
These additional hardware resources include universal analog inputs 2 to 4, dedicated thermistor inputs 1 and 2, analog outputs 2 to 4, digital inputs 2 to 4, and relay outputs 2 to 4. Other additional resources available from the System Setup options include the secondary proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control loops associated with analog outputs 2 to 4, the comprehensive alarm facility, and the security password management facility.
The Unit Setup menu enables support for controller settings configuration, hood monitor and controller settings, sash position sensor configuration, and unit network capabilities configuration.
If the HMS1655 monitors the fume hood sash position, the Sash Setup option provides access to the sash settings. Options available on the Sash Setup menu include field calibration of the sash position sensor, sash alarms operation mode, sash alarm heights configuration, and Sash Control settings configuration.
The Network Setup option provides support for the HMS1655 network capability configuration. These options include the baud rate selection for the network interface, if the current protocol is BACnet MS/TP, network or MAC address selection for the unit, and setting several parameters specific to the BACnet protocol such as the device ID offset and the Max_Master parameter. The available options on the Network Setup menu strictly depend on the selected protocol at the controller module with hardware configuration switch settings. For more information about the two different sets of menu options, see Configuring network settings.
The Controller Setup option provides access to facilities that configure all of the settings associated with the HMS1655 that is primarily used as a fume hood controller. This includes set up of the analog input and output, alarm relay, PID control loop, alarm setpoints, audible alert settings, and the engineering units for the face velocity reading.
If you use the HMS1655 with multiple face velocity sensors, the Controller Setup options enables configuration of the primary sensor, while the System Setup options are used to configure the secondary sensor.
If you use the HMS1655 primarily as a fume hood controller, the Hood Setup option provides access to the settings associated with the monitored spaces. Options available on the Hood Setup menu include field calibration of the sidewall-mounted velocity sensor, hood operation mode selection, configuration of setpoints for occupied, unoccupied, and decommissioned operating modes, and ExAccel settings configuration.
