About this task

You can mount the A19CAC automatic changeover control in any position except under the selected pipe where condensate could drip into the control.

WARNING
  • Risk of electrical shock
  • Do not enclose any excess strap inside the enclosure when installing the cover. Doing so may result in the metal strap contacting the wiring terminals and cover, and may result in severe personal injury or death.
Important: Do not overtighten the clamp screw. This could distort the temperature element and change the control’s accuracy. Only tighten the clamp screw until the control is secure.

Procedure

  1. Locate the control on the inlet tubing or pipe where the control can quickly sense water temperature changes.
Note: You can securely mount the control to piping as small as 1/2 in. (12.7 mm) copper tubing and as large as 1-1/2 in. (38.1 mm) iron pipe. On some models the mounting plate is also the temperature sensing element. See Mounting the control for mounting strap instructions.
  2. If the tubing or pipe is covered or insulated, remove a 5 in. (127 mm) section, and make sure the surface of the tubing or pipe is clean.
  3. Remove the cover on the control, and mount the control on the tubing or pipe as shown in Figure 1.
  4. Mount the remote bulb control as shown in Figure 1.
  5. Replace the pipe covering or insulation to minimize the effect of ambient temperatures on the control’s sensing element.
