Table 1. Launch Issues Troubleshooting Information

Problem

Resolution

The H-LINK LED continues flashing for longer than 15 minutes.

The VR Smart Gateway cannot find VRF units. Check the H-LINK wiring connections and termination.

Confirm VRF operation is stable and responsive, and use the Hitachi Service Checker to verify the H-LINK network is healthy.

The H-LINK LED does not start flashing after the VRF Smart Gateway is powered on.

There may be a communication error on the H-LINK network, or the VRF Smart Gateway may be defective.

Confirm VRF operation is stable and responsive, and use the Hitachi Service Checker to verify the H-LINK network is healthy.

If you confirm that the VRF Smart Gateway is defective, see Repair Information.

You are not directed to the VRF Smart Gateway login page when you launch a web browser.

Reason

Device behavior can vary based on the device and Internet browser in use. For instance, some devices cache browser information and do not automatically redirect users to the VRF Smart Gateway login page when the browser is launched.

Resolution

Make sure that your device is connected to the VRF Smart Gateway's Wi-Fi network.

Direct your browser to www.myvrfsg.com.

Every time you install the SSL certificate on your device, it asks you to re-install it.

Resolution

Check your web browser settings and verify that cookies are enabled.

When you install the SSL key or certificate, you receive the message Error Saving SSL Settings.

When an SSL key or certificate is corrupted, the SSL page detects it and alerts you to the corrupted key or certificate.

However, if the corruption is minor, for example, an extra space was copied while installing the certificate or a character was missed, the UI does not detect the problem and allows the corrupted key or certificate to be saved. The server detects the error and returns the Error Saving SSL Settings message. While this correctly prevents the bad key or certificate from being used, it does not inform you as to the source of the problem.

In this case, reinstall the SSL key or certificate as described in the VRF Smart Gateway Network and IT Guidance Technical Bulletin (LIT-12012341).

The VRF Smart Gateway cannot see all VRF units at the same time, or behavior is unreliable.

Electromagnetic interference can cause communications issues. Connecting over 100 IDUs or ODUs on the same network segment can increase the chance for communication errors, and create performance and controls issues. The stability and reliability of communications across the H-LINK network is increased if you limit each H-LINK segment to under 100 devices.

There may be communication issues when any Hitachi Central Controller is on the network simultaneously with the VRF Smart Gateway. At this time, it is recommended to only have one or the other connected to avoid potential communication errors.

The Device List screen displays the message: No Devices Discovered.

Check the H-LINK LED on the VRF Smart Gateway, and then consult other entries in this troubleshooting section.

Refer to the VRF Smart Gateway User's Guide (LIT-12012385) for information on Ethernet settings and SSL settings.
