The VGE tool is computer license controlled. You must contact the local Johnson Controls product sales organization to license each installation. The VGE licenses are time-based and must be renewed on a yearly basis in order to retain full software capabilities.
The VGE software functions in three modes: read-only, modify-only, and create. Each mode is described in Table 1.

Read-Only |
Opens all VMD files as read-only. Read-only is the only mode available when no license is present. |

Create |
Creates new VMD files and allows you to edit existing files produced from the VGE tool. A temporary template file, VMT, is generated in create mode. This file cannot be imported into an NIEx9. Note: Standard VMD files created and certified by SIS groups
cannot be modified even if a Create license is available.
