Although the NCT is typically only used to find crash files for troubleshooting, you can use it to find and send other types of files as well. To find or send non-debug files on a network engine using the NCT, use the following instructions. For information only on finding crash files, see Finding crash files.
- Start the NCT.
- On the Connections tab, select a device, then click Connect to connect to a network engine.
- Select the Explorer tab.
- Click Refresh Device

- In the Directories pane, browse to the folder that contains the file you are looking for.
- In the Files
pane, select the file you want to copy and click Get
File.Note: You can copy only one file at a time through the NCT.
- Select the location where you want to save the file and click OK.
- Repeat Step 5 through Step 7 for each file that you want to copy.
- If you want to send a file from your laptop to the network engine, in the Directories pane, browse to the folder that contains the file you want to replace.
- Click Send File. From the dialog box that appears, browse to the file on your laptop that you want to send to the network engine. Click Open. The NCT sends the file to the network engine to the selected location and reports the progress in the Connection Activity pane.
- To confirm the file transfer, click Refresh Device Contents and select the location where you placed the file.
- Repeat Step 9 through Step 11 for each file that you want to send.
