Use the Tools tab (Figure 1 or Figure 2) to gather different types of data from a network engine, to synchronize the date and time on the network engine with the date and time on your computer, and to start and stop the FTP and Telnet servers. Several options are not available with network engines that are running the Linux OS.
The Tools tab presents different options depending on whether you are using the NCT in Normal mode or Advanced mode. The Advanced mode includes all of those options present in Normal mode, as well as options that are only available in Advanced mode. Both options are shown in Table 1.

Set Time and Date Button |
Synchronizes the time on the connected network engine with the time on your NCT computer. The command sent from the NCT to the network engine contains the time in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) format. This feature allows the NCT to work across time zones and stay in sync. The correct time zones must be configured in the network engine Site Management Portal and the NCT computer. See Set Date and Time button and Synchronizing the time between the network engine and your computer for more information. Important: Be aware that you can cause devices to go
offline if your computer time differs by more than 5 minutes
from the time on the Site Director.

of the network engine without performing an archive. Any changes
you made since the last archive of the network engine are lost
when you click this button.
