The Microsoft Server operating system software used by the ADX requires licenses called Client Access Licenses (CALs). A CAL is a license that gives you the right to access the services of the server. The ADS running on a Windows Desktop (non-server) operating system does not require you to purchase operating system CALs.
Two types of Microsoft operating system CALs are available: a device-based CAL and a user-based CAL. These Microsoft CALs are purchased separately from the ADX software as described in Purchasing and designating CALs.
