To add a Modbus integration as a VND integration on a network engine, you must have the following:
- A properly installed and programmed Johnson Controls® network engine equipped with a Modbus RTU/TCP integration driver. For the network engine, the integration driver installs automatically with the software installation. See Inserting a VND integration.
A Vendor Model Definition (VMD) resource file representing the Modbus device to be integrated. Use the VMD Generator Express to create and modify a VMD file. The VMD file includes the points list for a specific Modbus device. It is used during the auto-discovery procedure. See Inserting field points. You cannot create a configuration for Modbus integration without having the necessary VMD file. Refer to the VMD Generator Express Application Note (LIT-12011931) for information.
