In a KNX integration, the field points represent the value of KNX group addresses. Group addresses are mapped to data points and are not related to a physical KNX device. The only device defined in the Metasys SMP is the KNX IP interface device or the KNX multicast address.

You can add any type of data point (AI, AO, BI, BO, MI, or MO) in a KNX integration, but you must set Vendor Configuration Data parameters properly, depending on the data type of the group address. You need to enter the group address related to this point and its value format which is a specific enumeration used to extract the value from the KNX packet. During normal operation, group address values are updated when an NxE, SNE, or SNC receives a change of value from the KNX line. See Group value format for more information.

After you add a device in a KNX integration, you can either manually insert field points or use an import file.
