About this task

You can install NAE85 software on a computer that has multiple network cards. If your computer has multiple network cards, to specify the network card that you use for NAE85 software, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Browse to Control Panel >Network and Internet >Network Connections from File Explorer and press the ALT key.
  2. Return to the Control Panel and browse to Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings .
Note: If the menu bar does not appear in the Network Connections window, press the Alt key.
  3. Browse to Advanced > Advanced Settings .
Note: If the menu bar does not appear, click Organize, select Layout, and then check Menu bar.
  4. With the Adapters and Bindings tab selected. Click the network connection that the Metasys network engines use. Use the arrow buttons to move that connection to the top position.
  5. To save the changes, click OK.
  6. On the Network Connections window, right-click the network connection that the Metasys system uses, and select Properties. Clear the Internet Protocol Version 6 options, if checked.
  7. Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
  8. Click Advanced.
  9. If selected, clear the Automatic metric check box and in the Interface metric field, enter 1.
  10. To save the changes, click OK.
  11. To ensure communication priority between the NAE85 and network engines, repeat these configuration steps for all other enabled network connections on the server. For the second and each subsequent active card, increment the Interface metric value by 1 for each card. The lowest number metric is the connection that is preferred for network traffic.
  12. Close all dialog boxes.
