The Point Mapping Utility defines points using Object Type, Units, and States Text attributes as they would appear for HVAC PRO applications. For N2 application points created using CCT to display properly in the Metasys system, the automatic mapping may need to be changed. See Appendix: Understanding the SCT and Online UI Insert Point Wizard Point Mapping Utility for more information.

The PRN file created by CCT for the controller application contains the correct attribute values. The Units column in the PRN file displays units for points with units and the setname for points with States Text sets. Items listed in the Units column that are not units are set names. If you are unsure if the value is a unit or a set, open the Units box and search for the value. If you locate the value, it is a unit. If you cannot locate the value, it is a States Text set name.

To locate a unit or set that requires an update, use the Point Mapping Utility to search for a Units box with no option selected. A Units box with no option selected may indicate that a unit did not translate or that a point with a set did not map. Follow these steps to locate points that require an update:

  1. In the Point Mapping Utility, search for a box with no option selected in the Units column. If all the Units boxes are populated, the Point Mapping Utility did not encounter point mapping problems and this section can be skipped.
  2. Find the corresponding point entry in the application's PRN file and determine if a unit is specified. If text appears in the Units column of the PRN file, proceed to Step 3. If the point has no units, no updates are required.
  3. Determine if the Net Point Type in the Point Mapping Utility is ADI.
    • If the Net Point Type is not ADI, use the Units box to set the units specified in the PRN file.
    • If the Net Point Type is ADI, view the Object Type in the Point Mapping Utility. The Object Type must be changed in the Point Mapping Utility to a type that supports an Enumeration Set.
      • If the Object Type is AI, update it to MI using the Object Type box.
      • If the Object Type is AO, change it to MO using the Object Type box.
  4. Make note of the point name so that its set can be specified in the Metasys UI after the wizard completes.
  5. After the Point Mapping Utility is complete, locate the point in the Metasys UI and set the States Text and Number of States.
Important: Do not specify the set in the Point Mapping Utility because the Number of States cannot be specified, causing the point to not display correctly.
