One of the primary concerns of critical environment automation systems is system and user security. The Metasys system security for MVE authenticates any user who attempts to connect or make changes to the system by requiring the entry of a unique username and complex password. When it identifies a valid user account, it authorizes the connection or makes the operational change. System access is granted based on the access privileges as defined by the Metasys system administrator in the user account.

The system administrator also controls other user access settings, such as password age, password uniqueness, inactive session timeout period, and account lockout.
