Who should use the Metasys UI?
The Metasys UI is designed for operators and facility managers who use computers, tablets, or smart phones to control and operate buildings.
How many tabs does the Metasys UI support on my browser?
When you use Metasys UI to directly log on to an SNC or SNE (SNx) engine, you can have up to four tabs open across all active users. The number of Metasys UI tabs mentioned assumes that no users are accessing the system using SMP.
When you use Metasys UI to directly log on to a Metasys Server or software-based engine, the number of Metasys UI tabs supported in your browser depends on the operating system (OS) of the Metasys device you are accessing. It can also be dependent on other active Metasys UI users.
Metasys systems that are installed on a Microsoft Windows desktop OS support up to five Metasys UI tabs open in any browsers across all active users. This is due to limitations in various versions of the Windows desktop OS, where users may experience a significant decrease in performance if there are more than five Metasys UI browser tabs actively requesting data. This limitation does not apply to Metasys systems that are installed on a Windows Server OS. For more information on the Microsoft limitations, go to the following address: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/iis/troubleshoot/request-restrictions
The following table lists the supported number of tabs on each browser per user session while logged on to a Metasys Server or software-based engine.
Browser type | Metasys system installed on Windows Server OS | Metasys system installed on Windows desktop OS |

Microsoft Edge Note: Each time you create a new tab from Metasys
UI, Edge displays a security warning that you have to
confirm.

Apple® Safari® Note: A Safari limitation
allows only one open Metasys UI tab. This limitation does
not include the tab that opens when you open the Metasys UI
Help. You can browse to the Metasys UI using Google Chrome
version 30 or later.

Is the data shown in the Metasys UI current?
In general, the data displayed in the UI is dynamically updated on the screen, based on when a value changes (depending on its display precision).
Some notable exceptions to this rule are Points and Faults in the Potential Problem Areas widget, which are only updated periodically. Points require a refresh to view new results when the data timer expires after 30 minutes. Faults dynamically update every 30 minutes when the fault rules run. The Equipment Activity widget does not automatically refresh, but displays new values when you manually refresh the web browser. Results for all Base Reports do not dynamically update as they are intended to reflect an instance in time.
Why does my screen look different on different devices?
The Metasys UI adapts to the device on which it is viewed.
