The Create Item wizard for creating objects provides similar
functionality on an MVE site as for a non-MVE site, with differences noted in the
sections below.
Create Item Wizard: When you use the Create
Item wizard to create any objects in the Network tree or in a user navigation tree
in Views, you are prompted for MVE validation if the parent of the new item requires
an MVE annotation or MVE electronic signature.
Creating Field Points using Discovery: When
you use the Create Item wizard with Discovery to create field points under a field
device, or within a folder under a field device, the creation process has two stages
with separate MVE validation prompts for any required MVE annotations or MVE
electronic signatures.
In its first stage, the process creates any non-extension type field
points you have selected from the Discovery results. In this stage, the Metasys UI
prompts you for MVE validation if the field device, or folder, requires an MVE
annotation or MVE electronic signature. The MVE annotation or MVE electronic
signature from that MVE validation prompt are then associated with all of the audits
for creating those field points.
The second stage begins after the creation of all non-extension type
field points is complete. In this stage, the process creates any extensions you have
selected from the Discovery results, as well as any additional Alarm and Trend
extensions specified by the checkboxes in the wizard. This prompts you for MVE
validation if you add the extensions to one or more validated field points. The MVE
annotation or MVE electronic signature from the second stage MVE validation prompt
is associated with any audits generated for creating extensions on validated field
points. The MVE annotation or MVE electronic signature is not associated with any
audits for creating extensions on non-validated field points, for example, field
points that require neither an MVE annotation nor an MVE electronic signature.
Note: In the second stage, the Create Item
wizard provides a retry link if the creation of one or more extensions fails or
if you cancel the MVE Validation window for the second stage. When you click the
Retry link, the Metasys UI will try again to create any extensions that failed
or were canceled. In this case the Metasys UI provides the same MVE validation
functionality as described above for the second stage.
