Site Settings: For MVE on Metasys UI, you can use Site Settings to configure Metasys system preferences that are supported for MVE sites. When you make changes to the Site Settings using MVE on Metasys UI, you are prompted for MVE Validation if the site object requires an MVE electronic signature and/or MVE annotation. The functionality of the Site Settings feature for an MVE site is similar to a non-MVE site with any differences noted below. Refer to Metasys System Preferences and Site Settings for more information.
  • All settings on the Display tab are the same for both MVE and non-MVE sites.
  • The Alarm tab includes the Enable Alarm Monitor setting for only non-MVE sites. The other settings on the Alarm tab are available for both MVE and non-MVE sites.
  • All settings on the Graphic tab are the same for both MVE and non-MVE sites.
  • The Annotations tab includes the Force Annotations setting for only non-MVE sites. The Predefined Annotations section on the Annotations tab is the same for both MVE and non-MVE sites. Refer to How do I configure a predefined annotation? for more information.
Note: The predefined annotations appear as selections in the MVE Validation window whenever an MVE annotation is required for an action in Metasys UI. Predefined annotations also appear as selections in the Add Annotation window when you add a non-MVE annotation to an audit or alarm.
  • The Electronic Signatures tab is available for only MVE sites. You use this tab to manage the predefined electronic signature reasons for the MVE Validation window. Refer to Configuring required MVE electronic signatures and MVE annotations for more information.
Note: The predefined electronic signature reasons appear as selections in the MVE Validation window whenever an MVE electronic signature is required for an action in Metasys UI.
User Management: For MVE on Metasys UI, you can use User Management to create, modify, and delete user accounts and roles for the Metasys site. Refer to User Management for more information. You can also set up the site to enable Active Directory authentication. When you make changes in User Management using MVE on Metasys UI, you are prompted for MVE Validation if the site object requires an MVE electronic signature or MVE annotation. The functionality of the User Management feature for an MVE site is similar to a non-MVE site with any differences noted below.
  • The Users, Roles, and Views tabs are the same for both MVE and non-MVE sites.
  • When viewing and editing a user account from the Users tab, the same settings, including category-based permissions and system privileges, are available for both MVE and non-MVE sites, however, the API access type is supported for only non-MVE sites.
  • The Setup tab includes the same Active Directory/LDAP settings for both MVE and non-MVE sites; however, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) settings are available for only non-MVE sites.

Space Authorization: The Space Authorization feature for MVE on Metasys UI provides the same functionality on an MVE site as for an non-MVE site. Refer to Space Authorization for more information. When you make changes to the space authorization for one or more users, you are prompted for MVE validation if an MVE annotation and/or electronic signature is required for the site object. The MVE annotation and/or MVE electronic signature are associated with the audit that is generated when you save the space authorization changes.
