When you are adding item references to one of the site object’s Validated Environment attributes for including or excluding MVE electronic signatures or MVE annotations listed in Table 1, you can use both explicit and wildcarded item references.

Explicit item references: use an explicit item reference to include or exclude a particular object for MVE signatures and/or MVE annotations based on its fully qualified reference (FQR). An explicit item reference is one that exactly matches a specific object’s FQR. You provide an explicit item reference by typing or pasting an object’s full FQR into the edit field. See Table 1 for examples of explicit item references.

Wildcarded item references: use a wildcarded item reference to include or exclude a set of objects for MVE signatures and/or MVE annotations based on pattern matching for their FQRs. A wildcarded item reference is one that contains one or more asterisks (*) that will match any character(s) in the objects’ FQRs. You provide a wildcarded item reference by typing or pasting a wildcarded string into the edit field. See Table 1 for examples of wildcarded item references.

Modifying Validated Environment attributes

To include or exclude item references for MVE electronic signatures and MVE annotations, modify the site object's Signature Include, Signature Exclude, Annotation Include, and Annotation Exclude attributes as follows:
  1. Click or tap the value of the attribute. A separate edit window opens for the attribute similar to that shown in the figure below.
  2. Use the + symbol to add a new item reference row and then enter an explicit or wildcarded item reference in the edit field. Repeat to add additional item references.
  3. Use the delete symbol to remove a selected row from the list.
  4. Use the arrow symbols to move a selected row up or down.
  5. Click Save.
  6. If the site object is a validated object, the MVE Validation window opens. Provide the all required values and submit the MVE validation.
Figure 1. Example of modifying a Validated Environment attribute
For both explicit and wildcarded item references, use the icon to open an Add Item window where you can select an object from any of your available navigation trees. When you click OK, Metasys UI copies the selected object’s FQR into the edit field, where you can then further edit it, for example, to add wildcarding.
Table 1. Examples of explicit and wildcarded item references
Example Reference type Description
MAIN-ADX:MAIN-ADX/$site Explicit Site object only.
MAIN-ADX:MAIN-ADX Explicit ADX device object only.
MAIN-ADX:SNX-BLDG-3 Explicit Engine SNX-BLDG-3 only.
MAIN-ADX:SNX-BLDG-3/FC-1.AHU-02 Explicit Field device AHU-02 only (under the FC-1 MSTP trunk on engine SNX-BLDG-3).
MAIN-ADX:SNX-BLDG-3/FC-1.AHU-02.ZN-SP Explicit Field point ZN-SP only (on the AHU-02 field device under the FC-1 MSTP trunk FC-1 on engine SNX-BLDG-3).
* Wildcarded All objects on the site, including the site object and the ADX device object.
MAIN-ADX:SNX-BLDG-3/* Wildcarded All objects on engine SNX-BLDG-3 (but does not include the engine itself).
MAIN-ADX:SNX* Wildcarded All engines on the site that start with SNX as well as all objects on those engines.
MAIN-ADX:SNX-BLDG-3/FC-1.AHU-02* Wildcarded Field device AHU-02 (under the FC-1 MSTP trunk on engine SNX-BLDG-3) and all of its field points.
MAIN-ADX:SNX-BLDG-3/*ZN-SP Wildcarded All objects under engine SNX-BLDG-3 with an FQR that ends in ZN-SP.
*ZN-* Wildcarded All items on the site that have ZN- at any location in their FQR.
MAIN-ADX:MAIN-ADX/$FacilityGraphics.* Wildcarded All Metasys UI graphics on the ADX.
MAIN-ADX:MAIN-ADX/$FacilityTrendStudies.* Wildcarded All Metasys UI trend studies on the ADX.
Note: Metasys UI graphics created on the site director and trend studies created using Trend Study Manager do not appear in the online Network tree in Metasys UI. To include or exclude these Metasys UI graphics and these trend studies for MVE signatures and/or MVE annotations, use SCT to configure the site’s Validated Environment attributes. In SCT, Metasys UI graphics on the site director are located in the All Items tree under the site director’s Graphics or Facility Graphics folder and Metasys UI trend studies that were created through Trend Study Manager are located in the All Items tree under the site director’s Trend Studies folder. When Metasys UI graphics are created on an SNx child engine (through JCT), those graphics appear in the engine’s Graphics or Facility Graphics folder in SCT’s All Items tree and in Metasys UI’s Network tree.
