Validated Device
An ADX or network engine that has MVE features enabled. System changes implemented by the user on validated devices must have an electronic signature with required annotations.
VAV Box
Variable air volume box. A type of equipment that provides for heating, ventilating, or air conditioning in a commercial building. A typical VAV system consists of a VAV box, ductwork, and four air terminals. VAV systems vary the airflow at a constant temperature.
VM
Virtual Machine. A Virtual Machine shares hardware and software resources with other operating systems instead of a dedicated server on one piece of hardware. Virtual machines are popular because they provide the same functionality of a dedicated hardware server, but at the reduced cost of just the software.
VLAN
Virtual Local Area Network. A group of devices on one or more LANs that are configured to communicate as if they were attached to the same wire, when in fact they are located on a number of different LAN segments. Because VLANs are based on logical instead of physical connections, they are extremely flexible.
VMD Generator Express (VGE Tool)
The software tool that allows you to view, create, and modify the vendor model definition (VMD) files required by third-party integrations on the NIEx9. Both the TCP/IP and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) formats are supported.
