BACnet
Building Automation Control Network. BACnet® is the ASHRAE standard for a data transmission protocol for the building automation industry. Conformance to the BACnet standard is documented in a PICS that references the supported services and objects listed in the BIBBs.
BACnet Interoperability Building Blocks (BIBBs)
In addition to the PICS, defines the BACnet services and objects that are supported by a device on a BACnet network. A BIBBs document is an ASHRAE requirement to show BACnet protocol compatibility.
BACnet Router
A communication device that facilitates communication between BACnet IP and BACnet MS/TP networks to monitor and control a wide variety of HVAC equipment, meters, fire alarm panels, and lighting.
BACnet/SC
BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC) is a new BACnet datalink that provides secure message transport by using the standard IP application protocol, Secure WebSocket, which is an extension to HTTPS and runs over Transport Layer Security (TLS). BACnet/SC provides a secure mechanism to authenticate and authorize a device to use the network. In addition, BACnet/SC eliminates the need for static IP addresses and network broadcast messaging. BACnet/SC works easily with firewall devices that are common in IT infrastructure and is fully compatible with existing BACnet systems and devices.
BBMD
BACnet/IP Broadcast Management Device. A BBMD is a device that forwards BVLC (BACnet Virtual Link Control) Original-Broadcast-NPDU messages on BACnet/IP networks that consist of two or more IP subnets.
Background File Transfer (BFT)
Network engine models at Metasys Release 10.1 or later support the Background File Transfer (BFT) feature. When you use SCT 13.2 or later to perform a download to the NAE55-2, NAE55-3, SNE, and SNC models, you use the Background File Transfer feature. Background File Transfer permits you to download a new image and database to a network engine while the engine is still running and controlling the building. With previous releases, the engine was offline and inaccessible during this process. The Background File Transfer feature is part of the Manage Archive Wizard > Download To Device option in SCT. Equipment controllers at Metasys Release 10.0 or later support Background File Transfer (BFT).
Building Network Dashboard
A detailed representation that provides a cohesive summary of the selected object. Widgets included on a Building Network Dashboard may include a Summary View widget, Trend widget, Equipment Relationships widget, and Detail widget.
Building Network Tree
Building Network Tree, or Network Tree, is the All Items Tree equivalent in Metasys UI and the Site Management Portal. The Building Network Tree organizes objects according to the Metasys object hierarchy.
Bulk Acknowledge
In Metasys UI, use this to acknowledge multiple alarms with one action. Bulk acknowledging is available to users with appropriate authorization in Alarm Manager and System Activity.
Bulk Annotate
In Metasys UI, use this to annotate multiple activities, including audits and alarms together in one request. Bulk annotating is available in System Activity. Bulk annotate of alarms is available in Alarm Manager.
Bulk Command
In Metasys UI, use this to issue a global command to multiple Metasys objects with one request. Bulk commanding is available after performing an Advanced Search.
Bulk Discard
In Metasys UI, use this to discard multiple activities, including audits and alarms together in one request. Bulk discarding is available in System Activity. Bulk discard of alarms is available in Alarm Manager.
Bulk Modify
In Metasys UI, use this to edit the attribute values of multiple Metasys objects with one request. Bulk modifying is available after performing an Advanced Search.
