ZFR based wireless solutions were introduced on Metasys Release 4.0. Since then, there have been two additional wireless solutions released, the WNC and WRG systems.
- ZFR181x Series Wireless Field Bus System (Gen1) connects to the network engine through an FC Bus using BACnet MS/TP. The network engine must be at version 4.1 or higher. This solution is discontinued but still supported in Metasys.
- WNC1800/ZFR182x Pro Series Wireless Field Bus with Wireless TEC3000 Series Thermostats (Gen2) connects to the network engine through an Ethernet connection using remote field bus (RFB) and BACnet IP. The network engine must be at version 7.0 or higher and the controller firmware must be at 6.2.1054 and later to be fully compatible. This solution is discontinued but still supported in Metasys.
- WRG1830/ZFR183x Pro Series Wireless Field Bus with Wireless
TEC31xx Series Thermostats (Gen3) connects to the network engine through an
Ethernet connection using remote field bus (RFB) and BACnet IP. It was
introduced at Metasys Release 11.0, but it does not require Metasys
11.0. Important: Due to updated security features, the WRG1830/ZFR183x Pro Series Wireless Field Bus System uses different wireless coordinators, routers, and repeaters than the ZFR1810 Series Wireless Field Bus System and the WNC1800/ ZFR182x Wireless Field Bus System. Therefore, you cannot intermix WRG/ZFR183x, WNC/ZFR182x, or ZFR181x Series wireless devices on the same wireless PAN. However, you can have WRG/ZFR183x, WNC/ZFR182x, or ZFR181x wireless devices on separate PANs using separate coordinators under the same BAS network.
