The Engine object defines the attributes that represent the externally visible characteristics of a NAE/NIEx5/NIEx9/NCE or SNE/SNE controller. One Engine Device object exists per controller. The Johnson Controls Engine object functions differently from the BACnet Device object.

In this chapter, Engine refers to all NCE25/NIE29, NAE35/NIE39, NAE45/NIE49, NAE55/NIE55/NIE59, NAE85/NIE85/NIE89, SNE10/SNE11/SNE22, and SNC16/SNC25 models.
- The Object Type for this object is labeled Device in the software.
- If you open the Focus window for an Engine object but the window indicates the engine is unreachable, you may need to the pair the engine to the Site Director. For details, see Pair NxE with Site Director.
This object allows you to see data about the controller, such as the IP address and the current date and time.
