The SNx supports a second, non-routable Ethernet network through a USB-to-Ethernet adapter (ACC-USBETH-0). You must connect the adapter between the SNx’s USB port and a second Ethernet network. This external Ethernet network must be limited to a single subnet and be physically separated from the internal Ethernet network to prevent communication between the two networks.

Important: Do not attempt to configure the External LAN and External LAN IP Data Link if the USB-to-Ethernet adapter is not plugged in to the engine. Figure 1 shows the External LAN property that should remain OFF and Figure 2 shows the External LAN IP Communication Mode that should remain as None until after the USB-to-Ethernet adapter is connected.

  1. Connect the USB cable to the USB Port on the USB-to-Ethernet adapter (code number ACC-USBETH-0).
  2. Connect the opposite end of the USB cable to the USB-1 or USB-2 port on the engine.
  3. Connect a network cable to the RJ-45 jack on the USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
  4. Configure the network engine USB port.
Important: Use only the USB-to-Ethernet adapter that is tested and qualified for use with the SNE. Other non-qualified adapters do not function in the USB ports of the SNE. See USB ports for more information.
