The maximum amount of energy used at one specific time is called demand and is most often measured in Kilowatts (kW) of electricity. Demand varies during the day based on the immediate power requirements of the facility. As shown in Figure 1, much of the demand peaks in the afternoon hours. Some utility companies bill a surcharge when extra power is required during these peak times, so it is advantageous for the facility manager to implement a strategy for limiting energy usage during these times. The DLLR feature does just that, ensuring energy cost savings for the facility.
