DLLR has two operating modes: Shed mode and Monitor Only mode. Shed mode is when DLLR is controlling loads to manage energy consumption. It is the normal, active operating mode of DLLR. Monitor Only mode is a simulation mode in which DLLR appears to shed loads, but does not actually control any equipment or change any setpoints. Monitor Only mode allows you to test and verify the DLLR configuration.

By default, DLLR starts in Monitor Only mode, and should be switched to Shed mode only when you are satisfied with its configuration. To switch between modes, issue a command to the DLLR object. You also can change the value of the DLLR object Mode attribute, which is useful when switching modes using programming logic. See Setting DLLR to Shed Mode.

Note: Even when DLLR is in Monitor Only mode, a load under its control can still be shed by some other process, such as by an operator command. For example, from the DLLR Load Summary, an operator can manually shed a Binary Output (BO) object from On to Off.

After download, the first load to be shed is always the first eligible load with the lowest shed priority (priority 10); however, when the controller is reset or DLLR is re-enabled, shedding resumes somewhat differently. In these cases, DLLR tries to shed loads that are at the lowest shed priority, but it starts with the priority at which it left off when shedding stopped. In other words, it does not start with the first load at the lowest priority, as it does after a download.
