About this task

Offline activation is a process that involves manual steps completed in the License Portal and the Software Manager. Refer to Software Manager Help (LIT-12012389) for more information.

Procedure

  1. In the Actions column for the product, click the Choose Action menu.
  2. Click Start a New Offline Activation. The Offline Activation wizard appears.
  3. Enter the system ID of the machine where the activated license is being applied.
Note: The system ID is located in the Machines tab if one or more licenses are activated on that machine, or on the Software Manager's main window.
  4. Click Next.
Note: If a machine tag was previously defined for the specified system ID, the Machine Tag field populates automatically. If this field does not populate automatically, enter the machine tag.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Download License Activation File. The license activation file downloads.
Note: You now need to transfer the license activation file to the machine where the Software Manager is installed. If you start the offline activation for the incorrect system ID, or the system ID for the machine has changed, discard the license activation file. In this case, contact your Johnson Controls Support representative to request the manual deactivation of the license and then restart the offline activation for the correct system ID.
  7. Launch the Software Manager. If the product is listed in the Software Manager's License Inventory table, click Activate New in the Choose Action menu. Otherwise, click Add License for cases where the software is not yet installed. The Choose Activation Method dialog box appears.
  8. Click Offline with a License Activation File. The Activate Offline dialog box appears.
  9. Enter the path for the license activation file for the new license; or click the folder name, browse to the file, and click Open. Alternatively, select Use a string (paste below), open the file, copy its contents to the clipboard, and then paste it in the field.
  10. Click Activate. A confirmation message appears to indicate that the license activation was successful. Click OK to close the message.
  11. In the Portal, click Finish.
