This document describes the Bert® plug load monitoring and control system of devices that can be easily integrated with any release of the Metasys® Building Automation System (BAS) supporting a BACnet IP integration.
Bert devices are smart plugs and inline circuit controllers that can monitor and control the electrical plug loads for individual devices or circuits in a building. For installation flexibility, there are three types of Bert devices.
The Bert Inline I Series (120/240/277V) has the following characteristics:
- 20A measurement and control for circuits and hardwired devices
- Series or parallel wiring
- Flexible, low-cost sub-metering solution
- Automatic receptacle control for ASHRAE 90.1 and CA Title 24 code compliance
- Manual override button allows you to turn devices on during off-peak hours
- 802.11 WiFi network communication on 2.4 or 5 GHz
- LED indicator for on/off and network status

The Bert Inline IR Series (120/240V) has the following characteristics:

- Split-wiring option for individual receptacle control
- Flexible, low-cost sub-metering solution
- Automatic receptacle control for ASHRAE 90.1 and CA Title 24 code compliance
- Manual override button enables users turn devices on during off hours
- 802.11 WiFi network communication on 2.4 or 5 GHz
- LED indicator for device power and network status

The Bert Smart Plug has the following characteristics:
- Enhanced network security: WPA/WPA2-Enterprise with radius server authentication
- Improved network performance: 802.11 n, 2.4 or 5 GHz
- Easy plug-in installation
- Optional tamper-proof screw
