Order both hardware and software licenses when you purchase a Turnkey system. See Table 1 for available hardware options, and Table 2 for software licenses. For complete software ordering information, refer to the Metasys System Software Purchase Options Product Bulletin (LIT-12011703).

Important: For an ADX Turnkey system, you require a license for Microsoft SQL Server 2022. For product codes that include both Microsoft SQL Server 2022 and Metasys ADX software licenses, see Table 2. These product codes use core-based licensing for SQL Server and include a license for 4 cores. You must ensure that you adequately license Microsoft SQL Server for the number of cores listed in the technical specifications. In the per-core licensing model, licenses are sold as 2 core packs. If you purchase a 4 core license from Johnson Controls, then you must separately purchase an additional two 2 core license packs for the M4-ADXTK-TWR or an additional six 2 core license packs for the M4-ADXTK-RCK. For more information about purchasing licenses, refer to the License requirements for servers and SQL Server section in the ADS/ADX Commissioning Guide (LIT-1201645).
Note: If you obtain an SQL Server license from somewhere other than Johnson Controls, you can choose between core-based and Server + CAL licensing models. Compare both to determine the most cost-effective option, but also consider possible future expansion.

You must also purchase a Windows Server CAL for each client or device that accesses an ADX Turnkey. These are required to connect to the Microsoft Server OS, and are independent of any CALs that you purchase to license Microsoft SQL Server through a Server + CAL licensing model. For examples of Windows Server CAL purchases, see Table 3. For information about choosing between user and device CALs, and how to purchase CALs, refer to the Microsoft Windows operating system and SQL Server software license requirements appendix in the ADS/ADX Commissioning Guide (LIT-1201645).

Important: ADS/ADX Turnkeys are not suitable for large sites or many users, such as for customers that require 50-user or 100-user licenses. Important: SCT 14.1 and later requires that you activate MS-FCP-0 and MS-DP-0. Turnkeys ship with both device packages preinstalled but unlicensed. Licensing these two device packages, a new requirement at SCT 14.1, allows you to add controllers to an SCT archive.
Note: Turnkeys include additional software that is bundled with the ADS/ADX server software, including the Metasys UI and the Metasys Database Manager. The ADX Turnkey computers come in two varieties: tower and rack. Use the tower hardware option for flexibility in installation, and the rack hardware option to conserve space in a server rack.
