The ADS Turnkey ships with Microsoft® SQL Server® 2019 Express with Management Tools (64-bit), and the ADX Turnkey ships with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (64-bit).

Note: In this document, the term SQL Server software represents both Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Express and Microsoft SQL Server 2019 software.
Important: The ADX Turnkey ships with SQL Server unlicensed. Apply a license for SQL Server during setup. For more information, see Licensing SQL Server on an ADX Turnkey.

To verify that SQL Server software is running on the computer, run the SQL Server Configuration Manager, select the instance name, and then look for the Host Name entry in the Service tab of SQL Server Properties. Refer to the Metasys Server Installation and Upgrade Instructions (LIT-12012162) or SCT Installation and Upgrade Instructions (LIT-12012067) for details.

Important: If you use SQL Server software to back up a database on a Turnkey, you cannot restore the database on an ADS or ADX that has an older version of SQL Server software installed, such as SQL Server 2000 software, SQL Server 2005 software, or Microsoft Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) 2000 software.

To work around these restrictions, download the archive from a system that runs the newer version of SQL Server software, and then upload the archive into a system that runs an older version of SQL Server software. You can also use the SCT's export archive and import archive features.

To maintain your Metasys system SQL Server databases, use the Metasys Database Manager or SQL Server management tools from Microsoft. All Turnkeys include the Metasys Database Manager. For more information, refer to the Metasys Database Manager Help (LIT-12011202) and Network and IT Guidance Technical Bulletin (LIT-12011279) .
