The Universal Adapter applies an interlock to the appropriate thermostat signals. For example, the Y1 signal is interlocked with the Y2 signal.
If the incoming Y2 is on, but the incoming Y1 is off, the UA overrides the Y1 signal and sends both Y1 and Y2 as on to the appropriate devices.
The interlock action applies to the following signals:

Y1 is interlocked with Y2.

W1 is interlocked with W2.

G is interlocked with Y1 and Y2.

When the adapter connects to the AVV air handler, G is interlocked with W1 and W2.
