Procedure

Use the Sensor Management sub-menu to scan the sensor network for active sensors and to enable or disable individual sensors. This sub-menu also displays the velocity and temperature reading of each sensor.

Display Active Sensors Displays the active sensors and monitors.
Scan Sensors Scans and updates the active sensors and monitors.
Display Sensor Status Displays the status of each sensor on each monitor.
Enable Sensor Enables the user to set a sensor on any monitor to be enabled.
Disable Sensor Enables the user to set a sensor on any monitor to be disabled.
Display Monitor Status Displays the status of each monitor and the fan assignments associated with the monitor.
Display Monitor Data Displays the average and individual raw values of the selected monitor sensors.

To configure sensor management, complete the following steps:

  1. While in the Supervisor Menu, use UP or DOWN to scroll to Sensor Mgmt > Fan Arry Config.
  2. Select Sensor Mgmt and press ENTER to enter the Sensor Management Menu. The display shows Disp Active Sen > Scan for Sensor.
  3. Select Disp Active Sen and press ENTER to display active sensors. The display shows the number of monitors and the number of sensors as shown in the following figure. In this example, one monitor is active and enabled and two sensors are valid and enabled.

  4. Press ESC or ENTER to return to the previous menu. The display shows Disp Active Sen > Scan for Sensor.
    Note: For network sensor scan, the host monitor sends scan and restart commands to all client monitors on the wired monitor network. The host monitor then restarts to poll for connected monitor and sensors, and updates the inventory.
  5. Select Scan for Sensor and press ENTER. The display shows Scan sensors....
  6. The host monitor provides scan and restart commands to the network. When the warm-up completes, the display shows the normal operation mode. See the following figure.

  7. Press MENU, scroll DOWN, select the Supervisor Menu, and press ENTER to return to the Sensor Management menu.
  8. Press UP or DOWN to Disp Sens Stat. The display shows Scan for Sensor > Disp Sens Stat.
  9. Select Disp Sens Stat and press ENTER. The display shows the details in the following figure.

  10. Press UP or DOWN to scroll to the monitor to be displayed on line 1 of the LCD screen. H for the host monitor and 0 to F for the client monitors listed from bottom to top. See the following figure.

  11. Press ESC. The display returns to the Sensor Management menu.
  12. Use UP or DOWN to scroll to Enable Sensors, and press ENTER. The display shows Select Sensor # > MON H.
  13. Scroll to display the monitor number to be selected on line 2 and press ENTER. The display shows Select Sensor # > MON H Sensor 1.
  14. Press UP or DOWN to display the sensor number to be enabled and press ENTER. The display returns to the Sensor Management menu.
    Note: To disable sensors, scroll in the Sensor Management menu to Disable Sensors. The process is the same as Step 12 to Step 14 to enable sensors.
  15. Press UP or DOWN to scroll to Display Monitor Status. Press ENTER and the display shows as in the following figure.

  16. Use UP or DOWN to scroll to the monitor to be displayed on line 1 of the LCD screen, H for the host monitor and 0 to F for the client monitors listed from bottom to top, and press ENTER. The display shows fan assignments, if assigned. After viewing, press ESC until you return to the Sensor Management menu.
    • Figure 6 shows the fan assignment with one sensor for each fan and both sensors assigned.
    • Figure 7 shows the fan assignment with two sensors for each fan and both sensors assigned.
    • Figure 8 indicates when no sensor on the selected monitor is assigned to a fan.

    Note: When multiple fans have a duplicate assignment, the display shows DUPE as shown in the following figures.

  17. Use UP or DOWN to scroll to Display Monitor Data. Press ENTER and the display shows the information in the following figure.

  18. Press ENTER to view the status and values of individual sensors on the selected monitor. Use UP or DOWN to scroll through the sensors, 1 to 2. Press ESC to return to the Monitor Data screen.

  19. Press UP or DOWN to scroll to display the remaining monitors. Press ESC to return to the Sensor Management menu.
  20. Press UP or DOWN to scroll to Exit this Menu and press ENTER to return to the Supervisor Menu.
