Plant Optimizer can provide future weather predictions, particularly for short-term forecasts
(1 hour to 4 hours ahead), in the following cases:
- If a site cannot connect to standard weather forecasting services that Plant Optimizer uses, such as AccuWeather or U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service, over the Internet due to cybersecurity policies.
- If local plant automation systems have data points available for local on-site weather stations or outdoor air ambient condition sensors mapped that can be integrated.
- Installation Note:
- When you upgrade a Plant Optimizer site that receives weather forecasts from Accuweather or
NOAA to v2023.Q2 from a prior release, you must configure the following
Solver Parameters as False for dispatches to pass:
- Weather/Drybulb/EnablePrediction
- Weather/Wetbulb/EnablePrediction
- Weather/CloudCover/EnablePrediction
- Weather/EarthWaterTemperature/EnablePrediction
- Weather/EarthWaterTemperatureAlternate/EnablePrediction
You should configure these parameters as True for predictors with on-site weather measurements mapped to the actual value and have a predictor byte array defined and enabled in Solver Parameters, typically for air-gapped sites. A site may have some weather that is mapped and some weather that is not mapped.
