Trends reports for efficiency, specific efficiency, and site performance use the following efficiency calculations, depending on the equipment or plant type you select:

Table 1. Efficiency calculations
Efficiency calculation Description
BTU/kWh Measure of power efficiency. British thermal units per kilowatt hour (BTU/kWH) for power generation plants. This is the ratio of fossil fuel input relative to electric power produced for a selected power generation equipment or grouping of power generation equipment during a user-specified measurement period. The lower the BTU per kWh, the higher the system efficiency.
kW/Ton Measure of electricity-driven chiller efficiency. Kilowatts per ton of refrigeration (kW/ton) for individual electricity-driven chillers. This is the ratio of electric power input relative to chilled water power produced for a selected electric chiller. The lower the kW/ton, the higher the chiller efficiency. When you select the performance measurement type, you currently cannot plot a trend for total system kW/ton efficiency for groupings of electric chillers, an entire chiller plant including auxiliary equipment, a grouping of multiple chiller plants serving one common loop, or the aggregation of all electric chiller plants across the campus.
PPH/Ton Measure of steam-driven chiller efficiency. Pounds per hour per ton of refrigeration (PPH/ton) for individual steam-driven chillers. This is the ratio of steam power input relative to chilled water power produced for a selected steam chiller. The lower the PPH/ton, the higher the chiller efficiency. When you select the performance measurement type, you currently cannot plot a trend for efficiency in PPH/ton units for groupings of steam chillers, an entire chiller plant including auxiliary equipment, a grouping of multiple steam chiller plants serving one common loop, or the aggregation of all steam chiller plants across the campus.
% Percentage efficiency is the ratio of heating power delivered, or electric power delivered relative to input power for a selected heating or power generation equipment or grouping of equipment during a user-specified measurement period.
