Before you can configure OpenBlue Enterprise Manager, you must connect your data collector so that you can discover the data points from your Johnson Controls system.
About this task
To configure your data collector, complete the following steps:
Procedure
- In the Username and Password fields, enter the username and password that you receive by email from the development operations team, and click Log In.
- On the Data Collector page that launches in the previous step, navigate to the Data sources tab.
- From the Data source type drop-down list, select Metasys for a hardware data collector or Metasys API for a software data collector.
- In the Data source name field, enter a unique and appropriate name for the data collector. For example, BloomfieldDistrictADX.
-
In the Server Name/IP
port field, enter the Johnson Controls
ADS/ADX server name, or IP address and port number. The default port is
1433
. You can find this information in Appendix E in the OpenBlue Enterprise Manager Configuration Guide (LIT-12012432), or contact the Johnson Controls administrator to obtain these details. This field applies only to hardware data collectors. -
In the Database field, enter the name of the historical
trend database. The default database name is
JCIHistorianDB
. This field applies only to hardware data collectors. - In the Host Name field, enter a host name.
- From the Time zone drop-down list, select the time zone of the Aaeon unit.
- For a hardware data collector, in the SQL Username and SQL Password fields, enter your read-only ADX SQL database user account credentials. For a software data collector, in the Username and Password fields, enter your Metasys username and password.
- With the Enable check box, select Enable, and click Add to add the new data collector to the list of data sources. A pop-up confirms when this process is complete.
- In the Data sources table, select the new data source and click Test connection. This ensures that the EM systems can communicate. If the connection fails, ensure that you enter the information in steps three to nine correctly, that port 1433 is open, and that the Johnson Controls ADS/ADX is online.
Results
Note: If you revise the Data Source, you must perform two additional steps before you
click Test Connection again:
- Click Update.
- Select the name of the Data source that you update from the Data Sources table.
- Click Test Connection.
Next, you must discover the data points that the new data collector contains, so that you can configure these data points in EM.
