Feature Details
Workout area reservation Admins can now add workout areas as one of the space types for users to reserve through the desktop app.
Note: This feature will be added to the mobile app in future releases.
HID access card profile image HID access cards configured in the mobile application now display user photos for added security.
Glassbox integration Customers can now request a Glassbox analytics report through their Johnson Controls contact.

Feature Details
Group access policy The admin portal now includes group access policy. Administrators can only view and edit space trees, work orders, and customizable branding within their assigned access group.
Improved floor plan visibility To reduce visual clutter, the floor plan now initially displays only entry, exit, staircase, and elevator icons, along with related text. Zooming in once reveals room icons, while zooming in a second time reveals desk icons.
News notifications enhancements Users now receive all news event messages in their notifications window after clicking the bell icon. In the mobile app, users also receive push notifications.
Multi-floor navigation enhancements Users can now navigate between floors, even in complex building layouts, as for example where there is no direct elevator.
Multi-building navigation Users can now navigate between different buildings within the campus with the app navigation.
Auto session update Users no longer need to log out and log back in when administrators make changes to their profile on the User Configuration page. Instead, users receive the message: "Your profile has been updated. Click the OK button to refresh your profile."
Non-Companion users
Users who are part of the organization but are not currently registered for the app can now be added as non-Companion users. Super admins can assign spaces to non-Companion users.
Note: Non-Companion users do not impact licensing.
Visitor definition enhancements To be considered a visitor, a user must be one of the following:
  • outside the organization
  • registered in Companion admin portal, but inactive
  • not registered in Companion admin portal and within the same organization, but a member of different group access policy than the organizer
Meeting room support and status management The meeting room status managed externally by integrated room booking systems can now be displayed in Companion desktop. Meeting rooms show as Tentatively Accepted before the room administrator accepts or declines the request. This feature aligns with existing functionality in the mobile app.
Parking display name for notifications Administrators can now assign custom names to parking spaces, to make it easier for users to identify them in notifications.
Kiosk orientation Administrators can now rotate the floor plan displayed on the Kiosk app by 90, 180, or 270 degrees.

Feature Details
Roles and rights Administrators can now see all the roles present in the system and who created them. Administrators can only apply changes to the roles that they created or that were delegated to them. Administrators can view the details of all the other roles, but they cannot apply any changes to them.
Space tree enhancements Administrators can now create elevators and staircases also from the building level.
Translation enhancements Translation is now available for elevators and staircases.
Administrators group access policy Administrators can only assign permanent offices and workstations to users that belong to their same group access policy when they upload the Space Assignment Template.
Enhancements on start time when making reservations and scheduling meetings When a user schedules a meeting or makes a reservation, if the selected start time is in the past, the user can still decide to proceed and the meeting or reservation start time will update accordingly to the current time.
Meeting rooms status Special meeting rooms now show as Tentatively Accepted before the room administrator accepts or declines the request.
Floor plan enhancements The floor plan view on Kiosk is improved. On low resolution screens, text and icons will only appear after zooming in.
12/24 hours format for visitors' emails Visitor' emails now show both 12 and 24 hours format.

Location visibility Users can now decide to show or hide their current checked-in space or permanently assigned space location.
Scheduling meetings and reservation enhancements Favorite and recently booked meeting rooms and workspaces now appear first on the list when you schedule a meeting and reserving a space.
RSVP The RSVP function is now available to Companion desktop users.
QR code enhancements Users can now check-in to any space accessible to them without changing the floor manually.
Parking availability Users are now able to check for parking availability for their visitors before making the reservation.
Occupancy display feature enhancements Users can now see the occupancy count for open spaces on the floor map. Occupancy count for workstations is not visible in the floor map, but only on the correspondent information card.
Maximum space capacity Administrators can now add maximum space capacity to all spaces when they create a new space.
Administrators group access policy Administrators can now configure users only if they belong to their same group access policy.
Assigning permanent offices or workstations Administrators are now notified if they assign multiple spaces to the same user when they upload the Space Assignment Template.
Request to change the email notification sender Customers can now request to receive the Companion email notifications from an email address of their choice.
Date format Users can now select their preferred date format on Companion desktop.
Search functionality A new search functionality is now available in all drop-down lists in the Companion mobile app.

Floor map maintenance mode Maintenance and restricted areas are now visible on Companion's floor map for desktop and mobile app, including during the space reservation process.
Meeting room auto check in Administrators can configure Companion to automatically check in meeting rooms that are equipped with occupancy sensors.
Customer specified feedback email To collect Companion app user feedback, customers can now specify an email address of their choice.
Roles and rights Administrators see and edit the roles that they have created and the roles that are delegated to them by another administrator.
Bulk activate and deactivate Administrators can use a template to activate or deactivate users in bulk.
Extend visit Users can extend the duration of a visit, including their visitor's parking space allocation.

Visitor registration The visitor feature is now available for Companion desktop. Administrators can configure visitor buffer times that are automatically added to the duration of visits that users create.
Space maintenance area Administrators can restrict access to floor areas for maintenance works and specify restriction time limits.
Work order status A new status is introduced for work order requests to indicate a failed issue resolution.
Calendar redesign Companion Desktop's calendar feature has a clearer, more intuitive layout.

Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) integration Users can create work orders in the Companion app, and administrators can manage these work orders in the Companion admin portal. In release 2.9, work order management is available for Ramdor, besides Companion's own CMMS.
Auditing and logging Customers' cybersecurity teams can use the Companion audit logging as a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tool to identify security threats.
Onboarding automation Administrators can automate the addition or update of Companion user data through an API.
Vehicle registration Administrators can allocate the number of vehicles that users can register. Users can then register their vehicles through the Companion mobile and desktop app.
Ordering from external online food delivery service through Companion's cafeteria function Users can order food and beverages from an external online food delivery service. The website of the service opens inside the Companion app, or in a separate browser tab for desktop users.
Multiple on-premises exchange Customers can connect to multiple on-premises Microsoft® Outlook®, Office 365®, or Exchange Web Services (EWS).
Microsoft® Teams® integration for on-premises exchange Increased flexibilty in collaboration. Users can use Companion to book online meetings with users from on-premises Microsoft Outlook, Office 365, or EWS.
Separation of functional and space access roles Administrators have more flexibility to selectively allocate rights and roles to users, with two rule categories available:
  • A functional role to allocate rights to Companion features.
  • One or more space roles to assign spaces where the user has rights.
Location Manager (LM) and COVID-19 social distancing features removed Social distancing scores and navigation safe routes are no longer included as a Companion feature.
New pricing model Greater flexibility for Companion customers who can now use a value-based, dynamic pricing model.
