You can use the Professional Productivity Tool (PPT) to scan Johnson Controls System Configuration Tool (SCT) archive databases for information about equipment and other points. You can export this information to use with the auto-configuration feature of Johnson Controls Enterprise Management. The use of the Professional Productivity Tool makes the configuration of Johnson Controls Enterprise Management easier.

The Professional Productivity Tool has a series of adjustable filters that you can use to scan a Johnson Controls System Configuration Tool archive and list equipment and point types present in the archive data. You can edit these filters to refine your scan of the archive data, and enter data in to empty fields in the new Professional Productivity Tool database. You can then transfer this data to Johnson Controls Enterprise Management.

While it is possible to configure equipment and points in Johnson Controls Enterprise Management itself, it is far more efficient to do this work in the Professional Productivity Tool. It is better to do the bulk of the configuration work in the Professional Productivity Tool, and use the configuration options in Johnson Controls Enterprise Management for minor adjustments. However, at present you cannot configure some features in the Professional Productivity Tool, such as virtual meters and weather stations. You must configure these in the Johnson Controls Enterprise Management Setup page.

Note: If you intend on using PPT to configure data points in a site then you must use auto-configuration. You must not discover Johnson Controls data points manually if you want to use the Professional Productivity Tool. You must configure meters in PPT and then manually complete the meter configuration in Johnson Controls Enterprise Management after auto-configuration is complete. For more information about how to use the auto-configuration feature, see the auto-configuration section in Johnson Controls Enterprise Management Configuration Guide (LIT-12012432).

It is important that the name of a Professional Productivity Tool project matches the name of its corresponding Johnson Controls Enterprise Management project. Johnson Controls Enterprise Management cannot properly ingest data from a Professional Productivity Tool export if the project names are not identical.

For more information about how to use the Professional Productivity Tool alongside other software and processes as part of a Johnson Controls Enterprise Management installation, see Johnson Controls Enterprise Management Implementation and Planning Guide (LIT-12012563).
