About this task

To install the ZFR1831 Wireless Router to the field controller, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Refer to the ZFR1831 Pro Series Wireless Router Installation Guide (Part No. 24-114610-0004).
Important: Switch 128 on the FC Bus address switch block enables the PCA/PCG/PCV/PCX to operate in a wireless mode using the WNC1820/ZFR182x Pro Series Wireless Field Bus System. Set the field controller’s Switch 128 to the ON position for wireless operation. Set the field controller’s Switch 128 to the OFF position for hardwired operation.
Important: For newer CGM and CVM models, the controller automatically identifies when a wireless router connects to the FC Bus.
Important: Do not connect the ZFR Pro Router to the field controller before setting the PAN OFFSET switches.
  2. Set the ZFR1831 Router’s PAN OFFSET Switch according to the job drawings.
  3. At each WEFC, set the MS/TP Address switch as described in the job plans. For the PCA/PCG/PCV/PCX , set the MS/TP Address switch 128 to the ON position. This procedure enables the device’s wireless mode and allows it to work with a ZFR Pro Router.
  4. Connect the ZFR Pro Router to the field controller as shown in Table 6.

    Field controller model

Plug the ZFR1831 Pro Router connector cable into the following jack on the controller: Connection points for MAP Gateway commissioning interface and other SA Bus products Use this communications port between WEFC and wired expansion modules or VFDs
PCA26, PCA36 FC Bus RJ-12 jack SA Bus RJ-12 jack SA Bus Terminals
PCG16, PCG26 FC Bus RJ-12 jack SA Bus RJ-12 jack SA Bus Terminals
    PCX17, PCX27, PCX37, PCX47 SA/FC Bus RJ-12 jack Not available in wireless mode. N/A
PCV1610/1620 SA Bus RJ-12 jack Use ZFRCBL cable. FC Bus Terminals
PCV1615/1630 FC Bus RJ-12 jack SA Bus RJ-12 jack SA Bus Terminals
CG and CV Series Controllers FC Bus RJ-12 jack SA Bus RJ-12 jack N/A
    Note:
    • SA Bus products include the FX-DIS1710 Local Controller Display and the NS Series (RJ-12 connection) Network Sensors, and Balancing Sensors.
    • PCXs cannot be used in wireless mode to extend the I/O of a field controller. You must always hardwire PCXs to their host field controller.
    • Do not connect any device to the SA Bus/FC Bus terminal block when using the PCXs with a ZFR Pro Router.
    • On the PCV1610/1620 models, when the 128 bit switch on the address DIP switch is turned on to enable wireless operation, the FC and SA Bus are swapped internally. All connections that were SA Bus (RJ-12 and terminal blocks) are now FC Bus connections. The terminal block connections marked for the FC Bus are now connected internally to the SA Bus.
