About this task

Procedure

  1. DHCP enabled and a DHCP server exists on the network. The DHCP server assigns network configuration information. The DHCP server can assign the following attributes:
    • IP Address
    • IP Mask
    • IP Router Address
    • DNS Server IP Addresses (when Obtain DNS Address Automatically attribute is True)
  2. DHCP enabled and no DHCP server exists on the network. Using the Automatic Client Configuration feature, the device automatically configures the network configuration. The following attributes can be assigned:
    • IP Address
    • IP Mask
  3. DHCP disabled. You must manually assign the network configuration.

Results

When DHCP Enable is True, the UI ignores the following attributes and should not attempt to write to them. The values from the DHCP are assumed to be more current than the tool interface:

  • IP Address
  • IP Mask
  • IP Router Address
  • DNS Server IP Addresses (when Obtain DNS Address Automatically attribute is True)
